WHEN IS A PERMIT REQUIRED?

INFORMATION NEEDED TO ISSUE PERMIT

 

NEW HOMES:

  1. Completed building permit application

  2. Two sets of building plans. Plans must include elevation, cross section, foundation, floor plan, and wall brace plan. 

  3. Site plan showing lot setbacks and erosion control measures.

  4. Copy of Door County Land Use zoning permit (if within 1000ft of shoreland)

  5. Copy of Door County sanitary permit

  6. Energy compliance worksheets (heat/loss calculations and insulation R-values)

  7. Complete fee payment. 

 

ADDITIONS, ACCESORY BUILDINGS, & DECKS:

  1. Completed building permit application.  *Administrative permit not required, unless smaller than 200sqft*

  2. One set of building plans (elevation, cross section, floor plan w/sizes).

  3. Copy of Door County Land Use zoning permit (if within 1000ft of shoreland)

  4. Site plan showing lot setbacks

  5. Complete fee payment. 

 

REMODEL:

  1. Completed building permit application.

  2. One set of building plans showing remodeling area (existing vs new)

  3. Complete fee payment. 

                     

COMMERCIAL (new, additions, & remodels):

  1. Completed building permit application.

  2. One set of state stamped plans with cover letter. If state approved plans are not required (under 50,000cu ft), then provide two sets of building plans for inspector review. (Per SBD118)

  3. Copy of Door County Land Use zoning permit (if within 1000ft of shoreland)

  4. Complete fee payment. 

AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS:

RESIDENTIAL ACCESSORY BUILDINGS (under 200sq.ft.): 

  1. Completed Administrative permit application

  2. Site plan
